Bethlehem: Sex and Violence with Mona Thompson

  • Banko Gallery at the Banana Factory 25 West 3rd Street Bethlehem, PA, 18015 United States (map)

Want to tell passionate love stories or get into wild fist-fights? I love teaching this workshop to more advanced students about how to safely handle intimacy and violence onstage, giving them the tools to create some of the most exciting scenes.

In an open and safe environment, I do exercises to get people more comfortable with their fellow players and show them a variety of techniques to kiss (or really fake kiss!), show passion and fight. In improv, fights can be dangerous because people are in the moment and if they're not on the same page with their fellow players, someone can get hurt.

I like to teach fool-proof stage fight techniques so someone can, for example, do a convincing foot stomp without being anywhere near the foot. After this workshop, you'll be rarin' to fall in love onstage or maybe get into a bar brawl in a rollicking Western!

Pre-requisite for this workshop: Students must have completed ArtsQuest's Improv 101 in order to take this class. If you have not taken Improv 101 with ArtsQuest but have other experience (Upright Citizen's Brigade, Philly Improv Theater) and want to enroll, please contact Ryan Hill at rhill@artsquest.org.
